Hello! I’m Deb, an artist, illustrator and author with a big soft spot for old buildings and the stories they hold.

I create character-rich digital illustrations of heritage buildings, from wine bars in former banks and record shops in old shopfronts to pubs, cinemas, theatres and bookshops. But it’s not just the buildings themselves that interest me. I’m fascinated by the people who’ve passed through their doors, the businesses that have come and gone, and the stories that make these places so much more than bricks and mortar.

I started drawing buildings back in 2020, initially as a way to get to know my neighbourhood in Perth. What began as a personal project has since grown into exhibitions, commissions and Building Stories, my collection of illustrated books celebrating the colourful histories of Australia’s most interesting buildings.

With Building Stories: Perth and Building Stories: Tasmania now published, and Adelaide joining the collection in 2027, I’m looking forward to discovering plenty more stories along the way.
